On 24 and 25 March, Fondation Cancer is organising the 2018 edition of the Relay for Life, a massive event to show solidarity with patients affected by cancer. Meet up at the Coque in Luxembourg-Kirchberg.
24 hours of solidarity
For 24 hours, families and friends, along with representatives from the healthcare sector, schools, businesses and associations, will form teams of runners to complete circuits of the course – running or walking – symbolising the long journey of a patient affected by cancer.
The 2018 Relay For Life starts with the opening ceremony on Saturday 24 March at 6.30 pm. The starting gun for the participating teams will be fired at 8 pm for the Master Teams (24 hours), while that for the Classic Teams (12 hours) will follow the next day at 8 am. Throughout the event, visitors and their families can enjoy a variety of events, and participants and spectators will be able to publish their photos, videos, comments and messages via Facebook or Twitter throughout the weekend, using hashtag #Relais2018Lux. The Candle of Hope Ceremony will be the high point on Sunday: candles decorated with words of solidarity will be lit at 5 pm, symbolising the hope of patients and their loved ones.
Banque de Luxembourg: a hundred committed volunteers
Banque de Luxembourg is once again standing shoulder to shoulder with Fondation Cancer, having partnered it since its early days. Not only will the Bank be offering financial support, but also human support in the form of two teams of runners and a hundred volunteers manning the main cash desk and the catering stands throughout the Relay.
Join us on 24 and 25 March to support research, prevention and aid for people affected by cancer!
