Banque de Luxembourg and Maison Moderne have published a book telling the stories of ten family businesses in Luxembourg.

The stories show how the country’s history has influenced the development of the businesses, as well as illustrating how these companies, and many others, have left their mark on the life and evolution of the Grand Duchy. Each one of these families has contributed its own page to the story of Luxembourg. Click below to discover their video profiles.

The Muller family, Moulins de Kleinbettingen, Panelux, Fischer Bakeries

“It’s 7 a.m. and, like every morning, delicious pastries are being arranged behind the glass counter at the Fischer bakery. Baskets are filled with golden croissants, still-warm pains au chocolat and clusters of crusty baguettes. A gentle aroma of fresh coffee greets the early-bird customers. Meanwhile, at the back of the shop, sandwiches are being prepared for lunch. When Philippe Bacchus, an ancestor of the Muller family, bought a millstone and milling rights in Luxembourg in 1704, little did he know that he had just begun the first chapter of a story that continues to this day – a story of a millstone that turned into a mill and flour that turned into bread.”
